Taylor's peak seasons showed the PDC product could pay like a real television sport. Once The Power was clearing seven figures from official events plus exhibitions, Barry Hearn's model had a proof of concept: concentrate the talent, sell the nights, raise the purses — and the champion's lifestyle follows.

By 2010 Taylor had already rewritten the world-title record books and was still banking Premier League and Ally Pally cheques that made him darts' undisputed earnings king. Contemporary estimates put a peak Power season near £1.3 million once exhibitions are included — the first time darts clearly paid a champion like a mainstream UK sports entertainer rather than a pub circuit legend.
